Indoor

Sharkstooth slit-film for field houses and year-round training.

High face weight, controlled-environment durability, and no UV exposure to age the fiber. The same Sharkstooth that pairs with Predator outdoor, tuned for indoor sub-floors and 200-plus weekly hours of cleat-and-shoe traffic. Every fiber extruded in Dadeville, AL. Every roll tufted in Chatsworth, GA.

SHARKSTOOTH FIBER · 200+ WEEKLY HOURS · ZERO UV EXPOSURE · 16 YR FIELD LIFE

One system. Two layers.

The fiber matters. The sub-floor matters more.

Indoor turf is one product, Sharkstooth, but every install is two engineering problems: the fiber on top and the pad system underneath. The fiber is consistent across our indoor library. The pad is what changes by program. Both ship with the same 8-year limited warranty.

Sharkstooth

Slit-film fiber engineered for the controlled environment of a field house. High face weight for tuft retention under repeated cleat traffic, no UV-stabilizer trade-offs because the sun never hits it, and the same fiber profile that pairs with Predator outdoor for programs running indoor and outdoor on the same campus.

Sub-Floor Pad

Indoor installs sit on a slab, not a stone base, so the pad does the impact-absorption work that the base would handle outdoors. Sprinturf specs Shockdrain 580, ProPlay, or Brock Pad to the program. Training centers spec firmer; field houses that host games spec deeper. The pad is a 30-year asset that outlasts two turf replacements.

What to spec by facility type

Match the system to the schedule.

A high school field house running PE class is a different project than a collegiate training center running 14 hours a day in season. Here is how Sprinturf typically specs each indoor scenario.

Indoor FAQ

Questions facility directors actually ask.

If your question is not here, ask the regional rep on your call. We do not route field questions to a sales hotline.

Ask a Sprinturf rep
What sub-floor or shock pad goes under indoor turf?

Indoor installs almost always require a foam-core or rubber-core shock pad because there is no stone base absorbing impact. Sprinturf typically specs Shockdrain 580, ProPlay, or Brock Pad depending on the facility's primary use. Training centers spec firmer pads; field houses that host football and soccer matches spec a softer pad with deeper compression. We will engineer the sub-floor to the slab and to the program mix on the schedule, and we will tell you when the slab itself needs work before turf goes down.

Does an indoor field need ventilation?

Yes, but not for the turf. Indoor field-house ventilation is driven by HVAC engineering for the building, not by anything specific to the synthetic surface. Sharkstooth indoor turf does not off-gas under normal facility conditions. Programs that have run Sprinturf indoor installs for 8 to 12 years report no air-quality issues attributable to the turf. We will share documented test results on request and we are happy to coordinate with the building's mechanical engineer on questions that touch the turf.

Is indoor turf engineered for game use or only training?

Both. Sharkstooth is built for the cleat-and-shoe traffic of indoor football, indoor soccer, lacrosse training, and team conditioning. Programs that host actual game schedules indoors spec a higher face weight and a deeper pad than programs that use the field exclusively for training. The fiber holds up to either use case; the difference is the under-floor.

How does indoor turf handle heavy shoe traffic from year-round programs?

Sharkstooth is a slit-film fiber engineered for high traffic without the UV exposure that wears outdoor systems. Indoor fields running 200-plus hours a week through the school year hold tuft integrity for the full warranty period. The wear pattern indoors is more even than outdoors because there is no weather and no sun-baked seam shrinkage. Indoor fields tend to retire on the long end of the field-life curve because there is less working against the fiber.

Are there UV considerations for indoor installs?

No. UV exposure is the primary aging factor on outdoor synthetic turf and it is essentially absent indoors. Indoor Sprinturf fields carry the same 8-year limited warranty as outdoor fields, but documented field life on indoor installs runs 13 to 16 years before performance-driven replacement, the longest of any sport-specific Sprinturf surface. The fiber lasts longer because the sun is not eating it.

How long does a Sprinturf indoor field last?

Sharkstooth indoor systems carry an 8-year limited warranty. Field life on properly installed indoor fields averages 13 to 16 years before performance-driven replacement, the longest of any Sprinturf surface. Heavy-traffic training centers running 14 hours a day land closer to the lower end of that range; school field houses running 8 hours a day land closer to the upper end. Either way, indoor outlasts outdoor by two to four years on the same warranted system.

Already on a co-op? You're already buying.

Sprinturf is an approved vendor on Sourcewell, OMNIA Partners, BuyBoard, and TIPS-USA. Skip the full RFP and piggyback an existing contract. Indoor projects close 30 to 60 days faster on co-op than on traditional public bid, and most field-house packages combine turf, pad, and install on a single co-op order.
