How Sacramento State got their field to play like the SEC at a Big Sky budget.
Sacramento State plays in the Big Sky Conference. Their athletic department doesn't have the broadcast revenue of an SEC program. The field, however, gets the same wear: spring football, summer 7-on-7, full game season, plus marching band, soccer overflow, and stadium concerts. Their previous surface was failing fiber tip-down at year six, two years inside the warranty window.
The Predator dual-fiber spec we proposed pairs an Apex monofilament face with Sharkstooth slit-film backing. The same construction is on Sun Belt and SEC fields where head impact and Gmax testing are scrutinized weekly. We extruded the polyethylene in Dadeville. We tufted and coated the rolls in Chatsworth. Our crew supervised the install through to the final striping.
Year-three Gmax results have come back below 130 across all twelve test points, well inside the NCAA threshold. The athletic director told us the team's perception was that the field plays "two tiers up." The actual cost delta against the prior incumbent was eight percent.
