LEAP Grant program

Half a million a year, aimed at the schools that need it.

LEAP is the Sprinturf grant program for under-resourced school districts and parks departments. Each year, we set aside roughly $500,000 in turf, components, and labor and put it on the ground at twelve community projects. The 2026 cycle ran across eight states. The 2027 application window is being finalized. Request 2027 materials now and your regional rep will reach out the moment the cycle opens.

LEAP FAQ

Questions about applying.

If your question is not here, ask the regional rep on your call. Application requirements verify against current-cycle materials.

Ask a Sprinturf rep
Who is eligible to apply for a LEAP Grant?

Title I schools, low-income parks and recreation districts, and under-resourced community athletic programs. The selection committee weighs both financial need and the share of the local youth or student population who benefits from the project. Verify exact current-cycle eligibility with your regional Sprinturf rep before submitting an application.

What is the size of an average LEAP Grant award?

Awards range from a single batting cage or practice cage at the small end up to a full multi-sport field replacement at the large end of the program. The 2026 cycle distributed approximately $500,000 across 12 community projects in 8 states. Per-project award size varies. Verify current-cycle award parameters with your regional Sprinturf rep.

When does the application window open?

The 2026 LEAP Grants were announced in January 2026 with installs to be complete by end of year 2026. The 2027 application window is being finalized. Request 2027 application materials now and we will notify you the moment the cycle opens. Verify exact dates with your regional rep.

Who selects LEAP Grant recipients?

A selection committee composed of Sprinturf leadership and external partners reviews each application. Selection criteria emphasize community impact, financial need, the share of underserved student or youth athletes who benefit, and the readiness of the receiving organization to put the field into use. Verify committee composition for the current cycle with your regional rep.

Does the grant cover the full project cost?

Most awards cover a portion of the total project cost. Recipient organizations typically combine the LEAP Grant with district funds, parent foundation contributions, or cooperative purchasing programs to close the gap. Sprinturf does not require recipients to take on long-term cost obligations beyond standard maintenance recommendations.

Can our school apply if we already have a synthetic field?

Yes, in two scenarios: replacement of a failing field that the district cannot fund, and addition of a new surface (practice cage, multi-purpose field) at the same campus. Most LEAP awards have gone to first-time installs, but a documented financial need on a replacement is reviewable by the committee.
